Southern Utah Pride is pleased to announce the dates for the 2008 pride event outside Zion National Park in the town of Springdale Utah as September 26th and 27th.
Southern Utah Pride’s event is one of the few (if not the only) events of its kind in the country.
We have been blessed with a breathtaking location to hold our event and, to the best of our knowledge; we are the only pride event that has overnight camping and access to such a gorgeous national treasure.
Southern Utah Pride’s event begins on Friday night with a dance under the stars and continues into Saturday morning with breakfast and parade followed by the main festival and closes with another dance under the stars.
Southern Utah Pride’s proximity to the park is both a necessity and designed element for making our Pride as fully rounded and enjoyable for our attendees as possible. When deciding on a location initially 6 years ago our options were limited in this extremely conservative community. But the town of Springdale has opened their arms to us and made this a location of choice.
Southern Utah is well known for its temperate weather and while we hold our festival in September we know that it can still be a bit hot, so hosting it outside one of our nation’s most visited and awe-inspiring national parks makes it not just beautiful but puts us at a slightly higher elevation and makes it just a bit cooler. This location also makes it a wonderful addition to the festivities as that the event calendar is planned in such a way that allows for attendees to visit the park and myriad art oriented shops located in Springdale.
Another bonus for attendees is that we are also located within 2 hours of Las Vegas Nevada for those festival goers that enjoy a little gambling and club hopping with their Pride festivities.
For those with families and children we feel you will see the potential with this Event to bring the whole family along. It is a much smaller and simpler Pride and one that really embraces family values. With the Park and Springdale as well as the children’s area we feel that this Event is one that embraces the whole GLBT community and we strive to make the Event enjoyable for all.
We extend an official invitation to everyone and look forward to seeing you all in September!
