Our Mission...

The Claudia Bradshaw Humanitarian Award is awarded to a community member who puts energy, love, and vitality into our community, who is whole heartedly involved and a major GLBT contributor for the Southern Utah area, and who has also gone above and beyond in bringing support to the GLBT Community of Southern Utah. This award is presented the night of the Southern Utah Pride @ Zion Festival.

The first award was presented in September 2006, at Southern Utah Pride @ Zion. To be named the Claudia Bradshaw Humanitarian Award, for the love and gratitude of and to a woman who has personally grown into an incredible role model and leader for the entire Southern Utah community, whom she has truly touched and changed the lives of many people and families as a whole.

Claudia Bradshaw was the founder of the PFLAG chapter of St. George after a life changing experience in 1998, when her younger son came out to her at a family gathering. After educating herself about GLBT issues she began to educate others, offered personal counseling to families, as well as educating the public as a whole about the gay community.

It’s a true honor to have people, such as Claudia in our small rural community who truly have helped shaped, and helped make what Southern Utah’s GLBT community of what it is today. With people like her, and others who may receive this award, it is a great honor for the Southern Utah Pride Association to have and give such an award.
